As another fantastic NFL season comes to a close and before 2025/26 begins again in earnest, we wanted to pause, take a breath and look back at the progress we have made in 2024 helping athletes, franchises and associations win, on and off the field.
Kicking things off with last month’s Super Bowl, Shiftwave is proud to be working with winning offensive tackle, Lane Johnson from the Philadelphia Eagles. Talking about how Shiftwave helps him to reset, Lane Johnson, said:
“For me it’s more about winding down from work…after games or after some practices, sometimes you have adrenaline that lingers. It could keep you up and ruin your sleep. I find it (Shiftwave) helps a lot with that.”
Away from the action on the field, the Shiftwave team attended some important events where we demonstrated our technology to celebrities, athletes, partners and members of the medical community.
On Friday 7th February, our Chief Medical Office, Dr. Jeff Rouse attended the inaugural NFL Players Association, 'Be Well' event, that brought together mental health professionals to equip them with the means to serve players and former players.
Across town, CEO Mike North, PhD and Head of Partnerships, Gordon Weiss, attended the Gifting Lounge for Celebrities and Athletes, engaging with new audiences and introducing Shiftwave to new fans.
Rounding out the pre-game activities, the team then attended the ‘hottest ticket in town’, Leigh Steinberg’s Super Bowl Party at the iconic New Orleans Jazz Museum, bringing Shiftwave right into the heart of the ensemble.
Helping players perform, recover and focus
Shiftwave supports many NFL franchises and their athletes across the league.
One such player is Michael Pennix Jr, QB of Atlanta Falcons, who, discussing his experience with Shiftwave, said: “In terms of performance improvement, three things stand out:
-
I felt like I remembered my plays better.
-
It allowed me to play faster, I felt mentally faster out on the field.
-
I noticed when I did not use it, I felt less focus.”
Supporting the next generation
We’ve had great success in college sports. We currently work with the Michigan Wolverines, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Kentucky Wildcats and we were proud to say the last two National Football Championship-winning quarterbacks, Will Howard (Ohio State Buckeyes in 2025) and JJ McCarthy (Michigan Wolverines in 2024) use Shiftwave.
Both QBs have talked about the role Shiftwave plays regarding recovery and focus. Will Howard, said: “I have this thing called the Shiftwave. It’s unbelievable. It’s changed my recovery.”
JJ McCarthy noted: “I felt the effects of Shiftwave in high pressure moments like when we had 4-minutes to go in the Rose Bowl, my mind was clear, my heart was steady, and I was ready to seize the moment.”
Will be able to claim a QB ‘three-peat’ in 2025/26? Whatever happens, we’re certainly excited about what the coming season will bring to everyone we work with.
Partnering with leaders
Over the past 12 months and while we are hugely grateful for the wins, the football milestone we are probably the proudest of is the partnership we have formed with the NFL Players Association, Exos and OneTeam, that we announced in December last year. Aligning Shiftwave with three leaders in their field to deliver new levels of performance and recovery and at the same time enable critical research into player and former player well-being is something we are both hugely proud of and excited for what the future holds right across the entire football industry.
Thank you to all our athletes, franchises, and partners for a fantastic season - roll on 2025!
