Find the Right Headphone Fit for You and Shiftwave
The Shiftwave Pro is a powerful system designed to immerse you through pulsed pressure waves and whole-body vibration. Because the chair vibrates during protocols, the type of headphones you use—and how they fit—can influence comfort, sound quality, and whether you experience rattling.
If your ears sit a bit further back on your head, larger over-ear headphones may press against the chair’s headrest. When the chair vibrates, this can create rattling or clicking noises that interrupt the session. Choosing the right headphone style helps ensure a clean, distraction-free experience.
Use a simple “Ear Placement Test” to find out:
- Lie on your back on a flat surface and relax your head. Let it rest naturally.
- Measure the space between the back of your ear and the surface using fingers.
- If the gap is less than four fingers: your ears are placed further back.
- If the gap is four fingers or more: your ears are placed typically or centered.
Quick Fit Guide for Shiftwave
Over-Ear Headphones
These fully surround your ears with large cushioned cups.
What they mean:
- Best for comfort and full sound
- Great passive noise isolation
- Largest overall footprint
Why they’re good for Shiftwave:
Excellent for shared or noisy environments—however, if your ears sit further back, the size may cause the cups to touch the chair.
On-Ear Headphones
These rest on top of your ears rather than around them.
What they mean:
- Smaller, more compact design
- Lighter and lower profile than over-ear
- Avoid chair contact during vibrations
Why they’re good for Shiftwave:
Their slim design helps prevent the cups from making contact with the headrest during vibration.
In-Ear Headphones
These sit inside the ear canal or like an ear hook.
What they mean:
- Ultra-compact
- Extremely lightweight
- Great for movement-free setups
Why they’re good for Shiftwave:
They eliminate any chance of touching the chair and offer a more enclosed, immersive feel. Ideal for a single dedicated user.
