Shiftwave’s research program examines how the platform relates to stress, recovery, and readiness in real-world settings.

The evaluations below represent the current published foundation, including four real-world studies with athletes and first responders. This work is being extended through controlled trials with academic and military partners, alongside ongoing investigation into autonomic, neurological, and cardiovascular responses.

Findings are added as they mature, while earlier-stage work remains under internal review.

These evaluations were sponsored by Shiftwave and have not undergone independent peer review. Findings are preliminary, exploratory, and intended to inform ongoing development.

Research in Progress

Controlled studies now underway

Alongside the real-world evaluations above, Shiftwave supports controlled research examining autonomic, neurological, and cardiovascular response in collaboration with academic and federal partners. These studies are in progress; results will be published as they are completed.

Ohio University & Air Force Research Laboratory

STTR Phase II Controlled Trial Program

A federally funded two-arm program examining Shiftwave's effects in a military-relevant population. The acute arm is a randomized controlled study of single-session autonomic and psychological response. The longitudinal arm extends the investigation with a deeper physiological battery — including EEG, blood and urinary biomarkers, and trait psychological inventories — to characterize sustained effects across repeated use. Enrollment is active.

How these evaluations fit into development

These evaluations are part of an ongoing process of development at Shiftwave.

Real-world use, internal testing, expert collaboration, and iterative refinement all help inform how the system and protocols evolve over time.

The goal is not just to gather outcomes, but to keep improving how the system supports different people, environments, and use cases.
